As a business owner and former dairy farmer for over a decade, I know firsthand the challenges of meeting compliance in areas like recruitment, health and safety, employment, animal welfare, and the environment.
In my most recent role as Operations Manager of a 550-hectare dairy farm, I was responsible for milking 1,000 cows and managing a dry stock block. A big part of my job was recruiting and managing a team of five full-time staff, along with casual and fixed-term employees. After leaving the farm, I've been managing health and safety, food safety, and export requirements for a Mānuka honey producer and exporter. I've also advised at a large food manufacturing site.
I'm passionate about developing user-friendly compliance solutions and bring a practical perspective to the pressures and constraints experienced in the primary industries. My hard work and commitment to excellence were recognised by picking up the national title at the New Zealand Share Farmer of the Year competition in 2014. I also received several merit awards for communication, health and safety, human resources, business management, and environmental management.
Inspired by my interest in health and safety and the positive feedback from the Dairy Industry Awards, I pursued and achieved a NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. This qualification, one of the most respected in the world, backs up my practical experience in effectively managing workplace health and safety.
